The Oregon Zoo

We left the coast early Friday morning in order to spend the morning at the Portland Zoo. I have always wanted to visit a zoo and was doubly excited to share this first with my boys. First stop the bears!
This was a bald eagles nest replica that the boys had fun playing in.

I was surprised that Anthony was brave enough to crawl through this log all by himself. The kid is growing up more and more each day.

Jessa and the boys checking out the fish.

The zoo had a few petting zoos and here we found all the typical farm animals to pet plus a tractor, which of course was the highlight. As you can see, it was very difficult to get the boys to focus on the camera for two seconds so we got what we could and learned to be content with that.

Watching one of the polar bears taking a dip in the pool. I would have gladly jumped in with him at this point seeing as the sun had come out and it was rather toatsy out but...
...thought twice about that when I saw the size of his friend. Yikes!

These of course were the boys favorite animals at the zoo. Who doesn't love an elephant and her little one?!

The men took turns pushing the stroller and the boys took turns sitting in it. They were getting pretty tuckered out by the time we made it to the zebras.

Anthony learned that giraffes eat grass and "eat" water after we visited this exhibit -- and he hasn't stopped telling us about it since.
At the end of our long walk around the zoo we had the chance to take a nice train ride and relax a bit before we piled back into the car for another long drive. Half way through Anthony looked at me said "nap" and immediately laid down on my lap and fell asleep. This of course was my highlight of our trip to the zoo.
