Thanksgiving/Kansas City

We finally made it to Kansas City for Thanksgiving this year. We had such a great time and got the chance to introduce Anthony to family whom he had never met. He definitely had a lot of firsts on this trip.

Our first airplane ride. He didn't really know that anything different was going on but I was excited for him and he even got his own set of wings!! My boys watching the planes land and take off.
We visited a lot of new places. Aunt Annye's house was one of our first stops. Henry and Anthony are watching their daddies play football outside. Too cute!

Our first big look at Kansas City.

This is the World War I memorial and that tower is HUGE! I have to admit that I was kinda glad that it was closed for the day because I really didn't want to hike up them, although the view would have been amazing.

First trip to the Union Station where they have this huge electric train display. Anthony loved watching the trains go by as well as putting his face on the glass which made his mother very nervous. Kids!

We took a morning and went out as a family to go see the race track, Cabelas, and Legends which is an outdoor shopping center. Cabelas was pretty impressive and they had some very exotic animals as well as a massive sized moose on display.

Yes these are real elephants. Pretty cool huh?!

This was a restaurant at Legends that we didn't eat at but Anthony found rather interesting.
And of course, the Plaza. Sadly this was before Thanksgiving so it wasn't all lit up with their Christmas lights but we did get to see these horse drawn carriages all over the place.

Like I said earlier we got to see a lot of old faces and a few new ones. Anthony loved giving hugs to little Henry probably because he was about his own size. I think Henry had had enough in this picture.

We got to visit a park one evening where we played on the playground, almost got mauled by a flock of ducks, and there were a few games of basketball thrown in there somwhere. Anthony enjoyed a nice stroll with his aunt Annye.

This was a big highlight for all of us. We got to meet lil' Miss. Amelie Elliot, our newest niece and cousin. She is such a beautiful girl, very well behaved, and we miss her already.
These were two of our favorite faces in the crowd :) Marya and Renee, cousins, were such fun to be with and played with Anthony constantly which was a wonderful break for both Josh and I. You two are growing up into two lovely young ladies and we are so proud of you. Love ya'.

Four generations of Wrights.

Cahlea was another big highlight for Anthony. I was surprised how quickly he took to his second cousin seeing as he had been doing the shy shrink back the entire trip with most of the relatives. But by the end of the night they were best friends.
We had a ton of good food while on the trip. While we were at Union Station and Crown center we stopped for lunch at this place called Fritz's. This was Anthony's first experience at a restaurant and what a restaurant!! You call in your order over a old school telephone and it is delivered to you by an electric train that drives around the restaurant. Crazy huh, but lots of fun to watch.
Waiting to be seated.
They give you your own conductors hat.

Bon Appetit

Marya and I trying to set a new trend.

Tuesday night we had dinner at a restaurant called Jack Stack where I got to taste my first real taste of Kansas City BBQ. All I can say is WOW it was delicious and there was a lot of it. Thank you grandma and grandpa for a wonderful meal.
This is a rare family shot.
Waiting to order. We had quite the crowd and all in all took up three large tables.

Poor Anthony didn't get to try any of the fabulous food but I think he rather enjoyed his corn on the cob.

And of course there was our amazing Thanksgiving meal provided by Aunt Janelle, Dennis, Cahlea, and Zach at there beautiful home in Iola, Kansas. this was one of the three tables set up to feed everyone. Gorgeous!

This was the center piece filled with photos of loved ones that everyone thoroughly enjoyed perusing.
Some of the lovely ladies who helped provide the meal. Aunt Janelle is hiding out in the background. Thank you again for all your hard work and love that you put into making that day so memorable for all of us Janelle!

We made it home safely, a few lost pieces of luggage and one minor expl0sion in a suitcase, but we are thankful that it was only that. Anthony even got his own seat on both flights!
We love and miss you all tons and until we see you again we will keep you in our prayers.
